Metal Table

Brother/Sister Plays

This 5’x10’ table was designed by James Schuette for McCarter Theatre’s production of the Brother/Sister Plays written by Tarrell Alvin McCraney. It needed to support multiple people, be moved offstage for the next play in the series, and also be able to spin on center. I built it with a lightweight aluminum frame which was surfaced with a layer of plwood, before covering all surfaces with 22 gauge sheet steel. The corners were welded and ground smooth. Casters in the legs let the table spin, while a pipe in the center kept it steady.
